Mountains to Beach to Bay Adventure Trip 8 August 5-10, 2012
August 5-10 (Sun-Fri) for rising 9th-12th graders: There is no other trip that sees as much of the “wealth” that the Commonwealth of Virginia offers! After check-in Sunday at camp playing and preparing, we’ll travel Monday morning to the high mountains of Shenandoah National Park for a fun day the awesome and scenic White Oak Canyon Trail, stopping at every massive waterfall and refreshing swimming hole. After an overnight stay at Camp Makemie Woods, we’ll travel east Tuesday morning to the Atlantic Ocean and a natural section of Sandbridge Beach (just south of Virginia Beach) for a fun-filled day of sand and swimming, then overnight at Christian Church Uniting in Va Beach. Wednesday, we’ll travel across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to VA’s Eastern Shore and our partner site, Camp Occohannock on the Bay for two full days of canoeing, kayaking and fishing, watching brilliant sunsets, all while enjoying the hospitality, facilities, climbing wall, good food and unique tidal marsh at Camp Occohannock. Thursday, we’ll visit Assateague Nat’l Seashore for another fun beach day plus exploring to see the wild ponies of Assateague/Chincateague. This fun, intense adventure trip is suitable for beginners or experienced campers, and it’s the trip all the adventure staff want to lead. A trip-specific pack list will follow your sign up. Rated easy-moderate. Prerequisite: Must be able to swim. By May 1 = $395; after May 1 = $445.
