Meet Camp Bethel's Assistant Director, Jenny Steinbach and her husband, Rafael Steinbach.

Dear Guests, Parents and Campers,

What an exciting time of year! Our lives are filled with the festivities of the Christmas season – family time, delicious food, Christmas carols and celebrating that holy night when Christ entered into the world. For me it has also been exciting in another way. I have just begun a new chapter in my life as the assistant director here at Camp Bethel and I am anticipating the joy of meeting you in the months to come. I look forward to welcoming and serving you, and helping to create an adventurous, exciting and Spirit-led program for the children this summer.

I am originally from Harrisonburg, VA and grew up on a Christian summer camp. I had the opportunity to be a camper, counselor, program director and everything in between for many summers. After graduating from James Madison University I was involved in voluntary service for two years in San Antonio, TX teaching in the inner city. I met my husband during that time. We moved to Germany so that he could complete his Masters degree (he is German). Upon completion we decided to move back to the US to pursue our dreams. My dream and passion has always been serving the Lord in the camp setting. I am so thrilled to have that opportunity here at Camp Bethel. I look forward to the time when we can meet. Jenny is a 2001 grad from James Madison University (Cum-Laude).  She grew up at Camp Overlook near Harrisonburg, VA where she also served 5 years as a counselor and 4 years as Summer Camp Program Director.  Jenny met Rafael (from Munich, Germany) while serving a 2-year placement in San Antonio, TX through Mennonite Volunteer Service.  Jenny taught Kindergarten in Munich for 2 years before returning to the USA to pursue her dream of full-time Christian camp ministry.

Jenny is passionate about Christian camping, and she brings multiple skills (drama, art, music) and camp-leadership experiences to Bethel.  Her duties at camp include shared responsibilities for Summer Camps, year-round programs and guest services.
