Day Camp Counselors will commute together to and from Camp Bethel to different churches off-site to run a camp program as a team. Off-site locations include Roanoke, Salem, Rocky Mount (VA), West Virginia to North Carolina. Parents drop off and pick up Campers daily. In teams of two or three, counselors are "in loco parentis" (in place of parents) for their unit of 10-15 campers. Counselors are expected to keep their campers safe, act as role models, and guide campers through the schedule/activities they have planned together. During staff training, all counselors will be taught the activity skills they will need. Activities that are offered during day camp include crafts, water games, cook-outs, singing, initiatives, nature study, group games, skits, Bible study, campfires, and more. Counselors and campers enjoy a packed lunch together daily and a snack before pick up times. Once all campers have been picked up, the counseling team will return to Camp Bethel for the evening to prepare for the next day. Some day camps that are held farther away, will provide housing for the staff during the time of the camp. Most camps run Monday through Friday, but not all.
