Health Coordinator (18+ with prior camp experience or 21+):
The Health Coordinator is expected to distribute all camper medications and address any medical needs that surface during the camp week. He/she will have copies of camper health forms to use as a reference when attending to camper needs. The Health Coordinator keeps a log of all medications distributed, and completes health reports for all other visits. S/he is responsible for distributing first aid kits at the beginning of the summer and collecting the kits at the end of the summer. Throughout the summer the Health Coordinator is expected to keep the first aid cabinet stocked. When the Health Coordinator is not addressing health related issues s/he will complete miscellaneous tasks (both administrative and programmatic). During the camp week, the Health Coordinator is expected to be available by phone and always available for camper needs. If needed, Camp Bethel can provide a "work phone" during employment. The Health Coordinator resides (Sunday 12 through Friday 8:30) in a room in our Retreat Center with a private bathroom, nearby to the "clinic" room. Summer 2021 will have new and added health-and-safety protocols to prevent the spread of communicable diseases (COVID).
No matter what percentage of the population is vaccinated by May 31 and no matter how circumstances have changed, we must operate as if everyone has COVID while at the same time adapting all we do at camp to mitigate the risk of virus transmission from person to person. For this reason, we must take our new health-and-safety protocols seriously. If you can not or will not take them seriously, do not apply. Implementing multiple COVID risk-mitigation protocols requires altering our staff structure, limiting exposure to other Units, and giving Units more autonomy. For 2021, we will not hire specific Coordinators for Ropes, Spiritual Life, Media, or Trips. Instead, we will have a team of 8 adult Unit Coordinators (4 females and 4 males) who are trained to lead EVERYTHING. Each Unit will have a Unit Coordinator who oversees the Unit’s specialized activities (crafts, high ropes, Bible Study, etc.) and ensures COVID-19 protocols. Ideally, each co-ed Unit will include 1 Unit Coordinator, 1 Senior Counselor, and 2 Junior Counselors, with a maximum of 10 campers. Single-gendered Units could be one cabin or two. Alongside our 8 Unit Coordinators, we are hiring a minimum of 10 Senior Counselors (5 females; 5 males) and a maximum of 14 Junior Counselors (7 females; 7 males).
