2021 HERITAGE DAY FESTIVAL AGAIN REPLACED BY SUCCESSFUL CONGREGATIONAL EVENTS: Due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, we could not hold our “in-person” Heritage Day Festival at Camp on October 2. Many congregations held individual fund-raisers, meals, or food/craft sales in honor of Camp Bethel’s Heritage Day, and Cedar Bluff CoB made their (our) famous Apple Butter. Funds raised thus far total $32,043 for Camp Bethel! Please participate with an offering in 2021 in support of Camp Bethel. CampBethelVirginia.org/HeritageDay for events, or contact CampBethelOffice@gmail.com or 540-992-2940.

UPDATE: No in-person Heritage Day on October 2; explanation and options
We have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person Heritage Day Festival on October 2.
COVID concerns continue, and regional "breakthrough" cases and hospitalizations are rising. Several congregations are unable to participate: not enough available helpers; concerns about gathering for preparations and eating; and some actual positive COVID cases within their ranks. It is safe to be outdoors at Camp Bethel, but it's more challenging to spend hours and hours together in preparation. The Virginia Department of Health currently allows such events (with caution), but the VDH also discourages large public gatherings from "mixed households."
I am very sorry for such a late announcement, and I know you've already spent many hours planning and preparing. THANK YOU so very much for your continued support and advocacy!
If you can, I encourage you to explore what's possible: A drive-thru church "yard sale" or food stand or to-go dinner? A special after-church parking lot event? An on-line sale or auction with doorstep delivery or pickup? A special offering? Groups were very creative last year, and we are honored and touched by the outpouring of support. Any way you can help Camp Bethel in 2021 in honor of Heritage Day is greatly needed AND appreciated.
Please let me know how we, the camp staff and the Outdoor Ministries Committee, can support or promote your creative efforts. We will promote your event and update all information at www.CampBethelVirginia.org/HeritageDay. Contact me with any questions, input, concerns, or ideas, and let me know how we can support you. CampBethelOffice@gmail.com or 540-992-2940.
We're all tired of COVID. With God's help plus community common-sense, we can suppress the virus and return to "normal" soon. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 1, 2022.
Together, in Christ our hope,
Barry LeNoir
Camp Bethel Director
