Presbytery of the Peaks High School Adventure (for rising 9th-12th graders, ages 15-18)

POTP High School Adventure, June 28 - July 3 (for rising 9th-12th graders, ages 15-18)
Sunday 4:00pm through Friday 6:30pm.
It’s our best week of camp fun and intense Christian living specifically geared toward teen life.  Adventure Camp has your perfect mix of wild fun and discipleship activities.  Adventure Camp is for active youth who enjoy the outdoors. You will truly live as a Christian body in a co-ed Unit of 6-12 campers with 2-4 counselors in our creek-side Adventure Village in our vast and beautiful riparian forest. Each A.V. includes a boys’ hut, a girls’ hut (both with bunk beds & mattresses & personal screening) and your dining shelter with fire circle, all by the clean waters of Wilson Creek. You’ll eat most meals in the Ark, swim in the pool, attend all-camp events, and have access to all the amenities of the camp (including showers!).  Activities for the week include group games, nature, crafts, music and singing, campfire vespers, swimming, low-ropes group challenges, creek-fun, hiking the camp trails and a singing hike to Horseshoe Bend, archery, orienteering and geocaching, slacklining, GaGa Ball & 9-Square, Morning Watch, Bible study, daily “Voice Your Choice” Unit activity, polar bear swims, night activities, special all-camp programs and a day on the climbing wall and high ropes course!  Your week also includes 3 days of adventure outings: River Tubing; River Canoeing, and Whitewater Rafting! (See descriptions below). A specific letter and gear guide will follow your sign-up.  This is a great week of spiritual development, fun and adventure; exploring your extraordinary faith journey and learning TOGETHER.  Be here for an awesome week!   Special POTP Price = $495.  Presbytery of the Peaks scholarships are available! Contact JoAnn Scott for information at 434.525.8885 or imscottypiper@yahoo.com.

River Canoeing: Your week includes 1/2 day of paddling on the beautiful James River, just 8 miles from Camp Bethel. Canoe skills, swimming, lunch on the beach and more with your adventure counselors on a 10-mile river section, perfect for beginners and seasoned paddlers.  Rated easy-moderate.

River Tubing: It’s our best way to beat the summer heat! Your week includes a fun and relaxing morning of river tubing on the beautiful and historic James River, just 6 miles from Camp Bethel. Let the river do the work as we ride the gentle current through gorgeous scenery over riffles and mini-rapids while keeping cool splashing, swimming and playing. Get creative with your float style or team up with your counselors and new friends to build an ultimate tube-blob-flotilla! Tubes, PFDs and transport provided by our friends at Twin River Outfitters, with counselor leadership provided by Camp Bethel.  Rated easy.

White Water Rafting: Your combo-adventure week includes a day of wet, wild & wonderful fun, courtesy of our professional raft guides and the glorious Lower New River Gorge. Learn crucial teamwork and coordination as we paddle “all-forward” through Class IV and V rapids: the “Keeny’s,” the “Railroads” and the “Million Dollar Wave.” It’s an incredibly fun experience; suitable for beginners and soggy-paddlers alike. All gear, helmets, PFDs, paddles and professional leadership included. “Dig in” for adventure and a great day of group fun on the water!  Rated easy-moderate.

2020 No-Risk Policy for Cancellations, Late Arrivals, Early Departure:
You can register with confidence. Should you pay for camp, and later decide to keep your child home, or if the schedule changes again, OR if camps are cancelled, YOU HAVE RISK-FREE OPTIONS:
1. Credit 100% of your payments toward another available 2020 program, or
2. Credit 100% of your 2020 payments to 2021 pre-registration, or
3. Donate part or all to help Camp Bethel weather significant financial losses due to March-June group cancellations (and help ensure we're here for you in 2021), or
4. 100% refund. We just need to hear from you at least 24 hours prior to the start of your camp, and sooner if possible. Please notify the camp office 540-992-2940 or CampBethelOffice@gmail.com ASAP if your camper will not attend this session.

Late arrival and early departure is discouraged, but allowed if needed. However, because staff, food, and supplies are already secured, we cannot provide pro-rated refunds for partial camp attendance once your camper has arrived unless Camp Bethel cancels the program.
Safety and health is our highest priority, and our policies and practices ensure safe and high-quality experiences. We are aligning plans and best practices with our many professional camp associations, and we expect upcoming guidance for summer camps from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health. We'll post updates at www.CampBethelVirginia.org/COVID19.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING:
"Our son and daughter have been coming to Camp Bethel since they were 5 years old--they are now 13 and 14 years old. We have found that your camp is one of the few that our kids continue to enjoy even as they are older. Other camps (sometimes a lot more expensive) are nice but for some reason the magic of Camp Bethel remains. We also really respect the way that your camp incorporates God and Bible study but in such a way that it is still cool--a rarity these days to find a place were kids can be kids and learn to love God and care for one another in God's creation. Thanks so much for the awesome experience for our kids and the ongoing magic that is Camp Bethel. Thanks, Gina and Chris Engel"
