COVID-19 Safety:
To ensure everyone's health and safety, and in compliance with Virginia's Phase 3, the 2020 Camp Bethel PEP! 5K will operate a little differently. Packet pickup before race day is greatly encouraged to minimize lines of people on race morning.
Packet Pre-Pickup Options:
1. Thursday, September 3, 5:30-7:00pm at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, 2138 McVitty Road SW, Roanoke, VA 24018.
2. Friday, September 4, 10:00am - 5:00pm at the Camp Bethel office, 328 Bethel Road, Fincastle, VA 24090.
Bring 1 or 2 face masks for any time you must enter a facility (restroom or brunch line) or be closer to others. At the event, when congregating pre-and-post-race, wear your face mask AND physically distance 6'-10' from others, (upon start, tuck your face mask into your pocket/waist).
The 5K will be chip-timed at both the start and finish, so you are only competing against your own time. The race will start in waves in order to spread runners out and eliminate the mass start.
Runners should stay 6-10 feet apart at the start line (which is also the finish line) and we’ll have visual and verbal cues as to how we want you to line up at the start. While waiting for your wave, avoid groups, wear your face mask, and stay physically distant. During the race, avoid packs of more than 4. When passing others on single-track trail, you must call out "Passing on the Left!"
Post race snacks and drinks will be available, and our brunch is from 10:15-10:45, (menu below and extra donations strongly encouraged). Results will be presented as soon as possible following the last runner, (timing and results by 'Mountain Junkies, LLC').
Saturday Brunch at 10:15: Pancakes/Chocolate Chip, Hash Browns (DF/GF/VG), Sausage Links (GF), Scrambled Eggs (GF/VG), Fresh, Mixed Fruit, Orange Juice, Water, Coffee & Teas. Served with syrup, butter, apple butter, ketchup. Options include Fresh Fruit, Cereal, Milk (2%, Soy, & Almond), Yogurt, Granola, PB&J, Bagels, and Muffins.
