Senior Counselor Description (ages 18+):
In teams of two to four, counselors are "in loco parentis" (in place of parents) for their Unit of 8-10 campers. Counselors are expected to be fully engaged with campers, keep their campers safe, act as role models, and guide campers through the schedule/activities they have planned together. During staff training, all counselors will learn the activity skills they will need. Activities that are offered on-site at Camp Bethel include swimming, hiking, biking, crafts, creek-play, cook-outs, singing, challenge course, high-ropes course, low-ropes course, archery, nature study, group games, skits, Bible study, worship, campfires, and campouts, with many more activities offered off-site. Counselors stay in a cabin with their campers at night. When assigned to an Adventure Unit, Counselors stay with their campers at night in their Adventure Village platform hut. Most units are co-ed. All sleeping facilities are separated by gender: female counselors stay in cabins/huts with female campers, and male counselors stay in cabins/huts with male campers. Each morning, units reunite at Morning Watch. Senior Counselors will work with all ages: Mini-Camp & Day Camp (ages 5-7), Elementary Camp (ages 8-11), Middle School (ages 12-14), and High School (ages 15-17).
