Backpacking Adventure Trips (for rising 7th-12th graders, ages 13-18)
Camp Bethel is excited to offer summer camps with health and safety adaptations.
Backpacking Adventure Trips (for rising 7th-12th graders, ages 13-18)
Week #3 June 27-July 2 (ages 13+); Week #7 = July 25-30 (ages 15+)
Limited to 6 participants per trip, (plus 2-4 leaders). Register EARLY!
Sunday 2:00pm through Friday 4:30pm.
Ounce for ounce and day by day this journey is the best adventure we offer: a 6-day, 5-night backpacking trek. Backpacking is a dynamic group experience unequaled by any other program, and each day, mile and footstep reveals powerful life lessons along our journey. We’ll parallel our hike to the disciples’ discoveries during their journey with Jesus (read Luke 24:13-35). Each trip is suitable for beginners and great for returning campers who aspire for leadership. Our trip will range 30-50 miles through lush forest valleys and over spectacular mountain-top views. Join your experienced WFA-trained counselors for this extraordinary journey of discovery as we hike, camp, cook, share and grow together along the white blazes; and learn cool lifelong outdoor skills. Hammock and rain-fly required! A detailed gear guide will follow your sign up. If you need one, camp can provide a pack. Both trips are co-ed, and each trip hikes a different trail section. Rated moderate with several daily challenging moments; occasional difficult moments. Subsidized Fee (discounted cost) = $380; Supporters Fee (actual cost) = $430; Sustainers Fee (cost + $50 gift) = $480.

Why 3 Prices for Summer Camp? The Choice is Yours!
Each family is different, so Camp Bethel offers a voluntary fee program. You know your family's finances better than we do, so choose the fee most suitable for your family. All campers receive the EXACT SAME QUALITY Camp Bethel experience, no matter what amount you choose to pay or contribute.
The Supporter's Fee is what it actually costs Camp Bethel to provide this summer camp experience for one camper, including counselor and lifeguard pay, utilities, insurance, meals, building and grounds maintenance, vehicle upkeep, replacing outdated equipment, accreditation and permits, program supplies and curriculum. Choosing the Sustainer's Fee (actual cost + $50 gift) gives you the opportunity to help us do more with the mission funding we receive. You help us stretch our limited campership funds to help more children experience the power of camp. You help Camp Bethel make needed improvements and foster future growth in all we do. Through mission funding dollars, we are able to offer a Subsidized Fee. This reduced (subsidized) rate is made possible by our District congregations, multiple annual fund-raising events, and gifts from individuals who value the impact the summer camp experience at Camp Bethel has on children, youth, and families.
2020 No-Risk Policy for Cancellations, Late Arrivals, Early Departure:
You can register with confidence. Should you pay for camp, and later decide to keep your child home, or if the schedule changes again, OR if camps are cancelled, YOU HAVE RISK-FREE OPTIONS:
1. Credit 100% of your payments toward another available 2020 program, or
2. Credit 100% of your 2020 payments to 2021 pre-registration, or
3. Donate part or all to help Camp Bethel weather significant financial losses due to March-June group cancellations (and help ensure we're here for you in 2021), or
4. 100% refund. We just need to hear from you at least 24 hours prior to the start of your camp, and sooner if possible. Please notify the camp office 540-992-2940 or CampBethelOffice@gmail.com ASAP if your camper will not attend this session.
Late arrival and early departure is discouraged, but allowed if needed. However, because staff, food, and supplies are already secured, we cannot provide pro-rated refunds for partial camp attendance once your camper has arrived unless Camp Bethel cancels the program.
Safety and health is our highest priority, and our policies and practices ensure safe and high-quality experiences. We are aligning plans and best practices with our many professional camp associations, and we expect upcoming guidance for summer camps from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health. We'll post updates at www.CampBethelVirginia.org/COVID19.
