Adventure Counselor Description (ages 18+):
In teams of two or three, counselors are "in loco parentis" (in place of parents) for their unit of 8-13 campers. Counselors are expected to keep their campers safe, act as role models, and guide campers through the schedule/activities they have planned together. Some activities are led by counselors and some are led by coordinators. During staff training, all counselors will be taught the activity skills they will need. Activities that are offered on-site at Camp Bethel include swimming, hiking, biking, crafts, creek-play, cook-outs, singing, challenge course, high-ropes course, low-ropes course, archery, nature study, group games, skits, Bible study, worship, campfires, and campouts, with many more activities offered off-site. Adventure Counselors stay in our Adventure Village with their campers at night. Most units are co-ed. All of our sleeping facilities are separated by gender: female counselors stay with female campers, and male counselors stay with male campers. Each morning, units reunite at Morning Watch.
